December 4, 2007: After over 40 years away,
Ernie Glass '67 and his wife Gina returned to Singapore this week to celebrate the anniversary of their church. The son of missionaries, Ernie spent 1957 to 1966 in Singapore. He was visiting from North Carolina, where he lives and works as a Financial Planner, and Gina works as an engineer.

Ernie and Gina walked around the campus with their host and classmate
Russell Ng '67. They were able to marvel at the Woodlands campus, which Ernie had never seen before. They walked from one end of the 40-acre campus to the other, as they visited former classmates and current SAS teachers
Kathy Tan '67 (Grade 1) and
Jim Baker '66 (High School social studies).
Ernie was shocked at the changed in Singapore, saying that everything was a bit more fancy and polished than he remembered. He joined Jim and Junia Baker for dinner at the American Club on Wednesday evening, and was impressed by the formality of the Club.
The Glasses were bombarded with invitations for the week that they're in town. Ernie said, 'Wow, people I haven't seen in years are really coming out of the woodwork! It's been difficult fitting everything in!'
They plan to attend their church anniversary activities, and fit in a seafood meal on Saturday night with Kathy and her husband George, before heading back to North Carolina next week.
UPDATE: December 10, 2007: After seeing the three former classmates together online,
Cheryl Thurman Sharpley '66 sent us this photo of Russ, Ernie and Jim in the volleyball team photo from the 1966 Islander yearbook:
Kathy Tan reports: 'I had dinner with the Ernest, his wife and Mr and Mrs Abraham at Ponggol Seafood Restaurant on Saturday. Mr Abraham taught Algebra, Geometry and Advanced Math and Mrs Abraham taught chemistry and biology. We reminisced about S'pore and SAS in the 1950's and ‘60s
