Featured Classes June 2008
"I was looking at your “Featured Class” section and was wondering if you could pull up some sports teams from the class of 1985.  That would sure bring back some memories. I believe that Mr. Norman is still teaching there!  He was my basketball coach back in 1985.  Thanks!"

The 1985 boys basketball team came back from a disappointing five losses at the beginning of the season to post a 4-2 record during the IASAS competition in Bangkok. The boys team lost to International School Bangkok in the final, 32-39. Captain Mike Braaten was the high scorer for SAS in the IASAS tournament, with an average of 16.2 points per game. Of the players listed, Tony Kalyk, Mike Braaten, Ashok Shah, Chris Noon, Mr. Norman, John McMillan, John McGrath, and Larry Miao are online.

Mr. Norman is indeed still teaching and coaching at SAS. His boys varsity basketball team won the IASAS tournament this year, beating Jakarta International School 80-66 in the final of the IASAS tournament on JIS' home turf in Jakarta. Three players were named All-Tournament. Coach Norman said that this year's team, even though it only had five returning players, had a depth that made them confident. The team had five different leading scores in six games, which was something he thought indicated the talent the Eagles had this year.
