Alison Todd-Smith '97 (who now goes by Alison Smith) dropped by during a week-long visit to Singapore, the first time she's been back since leaving in 1997!
She was in town on official duties as a bridesmaid for another SAS grad,
GahYan Tsui '96, who was married Saturday, March 8th. GahYan's classmate
Sawako Morikawa '96 was also a bridesmaid. GahYan and Alison both live in New York City, but GahYan and her fiancee decided to return to Singapore for the wedding. The wedding consisted of two ceremonies, a traditional Asian wedding in the morning, and a more Western style celebration at the Four Seasons Hotel in the evening. Alison promised to send us a picture or two of the SAS crowd at the wedding! GahYan's sisters,
GahWing '00 and GahYee '94, were also SAS students.

Alison was thrilled to be back in Singapore, and quickly picked up where she left off, jumping on buses and jetting around town without too much trouble. The heat was something to deal with, as she had been coming from near-freezing temperatures in New York. She toured the high school and bought some souvenir prints of the Woodlands campus, where she had graduated after starting high school at the Kings Road campus. After her visit, she was off to enjoy an afternoon on Sentosa with the rest of the wedding party. Thanks for coming Alison!

UPDATE: Alison sent us this great photo of the girls enjoying Newton Circus during their visit.
March 11, 2007: Joo Won ‘Joyce' Huh '86 visited with Director of Admissions Laurie Thompson today. Joo Won attended high school for grades 9, 10, 11
th at King's Road, and then left in 1985.

Joo Won says she would love to teach at SAS! She said her favorite teachers at SAS were Mr. Bob Dodge and Mr. Michael Cox. While on a campus tour with Mrs. Thompson, she visited with Mr. Cox, who taught Joo Woon AP Chemistry in 1985.
March 13, 2008: Stacy Abrams '05 dropped by today. She is on her first trip to Singapore since her family left for Texas after her 5th grade year. Stacy attended Ulu Pandan until the campus moved to Woodlands in 1996. She completed kindergarten through grade 5, and was thrilled to see that three of her six elementary school teachers were still teaching at SAS!
On our way to the first grade, we ran into Ms. Melissa Cain, who taught Stacy music at SAS. We walked on to Mrs. Kathy Tan's first grade classroom. Mrs. Tan even remembered Stacy's face, saying she hadn't changed a bit!
We were then welcomed into Mrs. Jane Dodge's third grade class, where Mrs. Dodge introduced Stacy to the third graders, reminding them that someday they would be college students like her. The kids thought this was great, so we took a quick group shot.

Stacy's fourth grade teacher, Mr. Marc L'Heureux, is now Deputy Principal of the Intermediate School. He remembered Stacy fondly, and told her that the reading notebooks they used to keep in fourth grade are now being used school-wide in the Intermediate Division. Stacy admitted that she still had her reading notebook from fourth grade in a memory box! Mr. L'Heureux thanked Stacy and told her that she had made his day.
Stacy was able to visit Singapore for one week during her study abroad year in Japan. She is an East Asian Studies major at Lewis and Clark College, where she will graduate in 2009. She has been in Tokyo studying at Waseda University since September 2007.
