October 3, 2007: This month's first visitor was
Megan Root '00. Megan was in town visiting her parents with boyfriend Eoin. Megan's parents have recently moved back to Singapore from the Chicago area, and are enjoying living in central Singapore, just minutes from the American Club. Megan and Eoin were visiting from Chengdu, Sichuan province, where both work for the company Molex as Project Managers. Eoin is very active in the rugby leagues there, and both are enjoying the spicy Sichuan food. After hearing about the housing boom in Singapore, they were pleased that they the living costs of China were lower to both Singapore and their previous home, New York City.

We pulled out Megan's yearbook and had a lengthy look through all of the activities she and her sisters,
Allison '05 and
Lindsay '03, were involved in. The Root girls were active students! Mr. Root picked up a copy of Jim Baker's Singapore Eagles book to share with everyone at home. The Root family was eager to see Mr. Crawford, who encouraged Megan to apply to Stanford University. We also ran into Megan's former counselor,
Laurie Thompson, who now works as the Director of Admissions at SAS.
We walked the family to the new high school, which was finished after Megan and her sisters left SAS. They were very impressed with the facilities, but also relieved to find they could still enjoy food from Mr. Hoe's cafeteria! We hope to see all three sisters at our Young Alumni Reunion on December 17th!
