Shaun Lee raises money for church with new book
The Words of Encouragement for Every New Day initially started by SMS to a few close friends. Sending an encouraging word or a daily prayer was exciting at first, until I noticed my phone bill at the end of the month. I knew deep down that money should not stop me from doing this, so I continued for a few more weeks. Then it struck me that my words of encouragement were limited. Limited in the sense that I could not write more and I could not send my SMS internationally. So I started emailing people on my mailing list and soon people who I never knew started faithfully reading the Words of Encouragement.
Since my book launch on 15 Dec 2008, I have managed to collect about S$40,000 through donations and sales of my book. The proceeds and every cent collected have been given to my Church’s building fund (Every Nation Church Singapore). It is my desire that one day we will be able to have a church of our own.
It has truly been an amazing journey for me. Despite my full time job as an investment analyst at a local stock broking firm, I manage to squeeze in time during my lunch break to write three daily devotionals (Words of Encouragement for Every New Day, Prayers for the Nations and the Poor, and Prayers for the Youth and Marriages). I am currently in the process of publishing volume 2 of the Words of Encouragement for Every New Day which will be available for sale at the end of 2009.
